Enter: Marvin Fusion, an East London native whose unique
approach to funky music packs both a punch and an individualised twist
of R&B and afro-house influences, as can be heard in abundance across
this brand new debut single. Taking the title ‘In The Night’, we find ourselves manoeuvring through a blistering maze of sidechained percussive pops and booming kick drums across the introduction,
until the brightness of a top-end-heavy vocal sample shines its way through the undergrowth.
On the flip to this, Roska morphs into his Bakongo alias for a dreamy
rethink of ‘In The Night’, stripping back the kick booms across the introduction for a more minimal feel. Come the breakdown, we find ourselves face to face with a moody combination of sub pulses clicky percussive taps, again allowing those catchy vocal samples just enough room to roam free.
